As part of ongoing efforts to enhance our Catalogue Events product we will be introducing a new field, clipStartPoint. The start time specified in this field refers to the start point for the pre-transcoded preview clips that 7digital provides.
The change will be introduced in week 19, starting May 5th 2025.
A provisional schema which includes the change and a sample of the new data point has been added to our documentation at the link below.
As part of improvements to our media delivery platform we are making a change to how you access preview clip samples. As 7digital supports multiple preview clip lengths and formats within our preview clip library we are updating how we store preview clips to ensure a consistent response from our API. Historically all preview clips have been stored under a single format ID, however we now store each clip variation under its own ID, as documented in the link below.
We will soon be updating the behaviour of the ~clip/{trackId} endpoint so that it consistently provides access to preview clips in 30 second, mp3 128kbps format for all requests. If your agreements with the rights holders permit you to access preview clips in a longer duration or higher quality format you should integrate with the ~media/transfer endpoint. This endpoint allows you to specify the format ID of the preview clip you require, providing greater control over the preview clips you can access. Access to the endpoint is managed by 7digital so please contact the Client Success team if you require access.
